LSU students compete in 3-on-3 challenge.

Today marked the finals in the Quaker State 3-on-3 basketball tournament. The women's team started early with a tough game against Georgia. Unfortunately LSU could not pull this one out and was sent to the Losers bracket with a score of 24-15 and forced to fight their way to the championship game.

And our fighting Tigers did just that. In a close game against South Carolina they pulled through to the final game of the tournament. Wanting to pay Georgia back for the loss only an hour

before, the tigers came out strong. The game was tough and both teams refused to give up easily. LSU pulled out the first game, but then had to immediately come back and beat Georgia again.

By this time the Tampa sun was beating down on the blacktop courts and both

teams

were feeling the heat. The fourth game of the day, within three hours of each other, LSU was feeling the heat. After never giving up, they lost an incredible game against Georgia in the championship. After a long three days of basketball, the tigers were sent home, but not disappointed because they knew their best. This is not how seniors Chelsea Ransom,

Gaynelle Brown, and Kourtne Brown thought their last 3-on-3 tournament would end, but they were just t

hankful for the chance to play in another season.

Overall our trip to Tampa was and incredible experience! We played basketball, meet new people from all different schools, and saw old friends again. Hopefully next year Tennessee will be as fun as Tampa!

Today the Quaker State 3-on- 3 basketball tournament ended for one of our incredible teams. The men’s team lost their first game this morning 24-23 in another exciting game against Arkansas. Again they were so close in a point-by-point battle. They had such an amazing run in Tampa and will certainly be expected back at the Quaker State tournament next year.

The women’s team lives to see another day. They had a slow start to Tennessee this morning, but pulled through with a 21-14 victory. They play again tomorrow at 9am to fight Georgia for the spot in the championship game tomorrow afternoon.

Today Tampa brought sunshine, competition, and wins for the two LSU teams competing in the 3-on-3 tournaments. The women started off the day with a dominating win over Vanderbilt. After two quick baskets in the inside, they quickly took control of the momentum. After only ten minutes of play they defeated Vanderbilt 24-6.

The boys had a great first game against Kentucky. They battled point for point and after much hustle they lost 24-23. But their day was not over. After watching the LSU men defeat Kentucky on the main court in St. Pete Times Forum, they pulled out a great win against Vanderbilt later in the day.

Both teams have a long day ahead of them tomorrow. The competition is getting tougher and the brackets are smaller. But I have no doubt that our fighting Tigers will pull this one out and live through tomorrow to play on Sunday.

The Quaker State 3-on-3 Hoop Challenge Championship kicked off today with registration and a short meeting. After a long drive the LSU teams were ready to see the sights of Tampa. The men’s team headed off to the SEC tournament to watch Arkansas and Florida battle it out for a chance to play Auburn. The women headed to Champps, also a Baton Rouge favorite, for a bite to eat and watch the end of the Alabama vs. Vanderbilt game.

Tomorrow is going to be an early morning because both teams are heading to the 3-on-3 tournaments early to scout out the competition. Both the men and women play at 12:30. Hopefully tomorrow will be an exciting day for LSU. Maybe this weekend LSU will sweep both tournaments.
